Mission Statement
The mission of the members of A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois is to preserve the universal right to a safe, unrestricted motorcycling environment, and to propose and advocate actions that can be taken by elected and appointed officials to protect and conserve the natural resources of the State of Illinois, and ensure through professional management that sustainable use, recreational opportunities and enjoyment of these new resources is available for this and future generations.

ABATE’s legislative program monitors and lobbies against legislation that would negatively effect motorcyclists’ rights and safety. In addition ABATE supports and seeks out sponsors for legislation that would benefit motorcycling.
Since our inception in 1987 we have defeated in the neighborhood of 40 attempts to pass a mandatory helmet law. (ABATE believes education not legislation is the key to motorcycle safety) In addition we have seen to the passage of laws that provide for and protect the Cycle Rider Safety Training Fund and the Recreational Trails of Illinois Act (provides funding for OHV trails.) We are currently involved in a lawsuit against the State of Illinois MORE...
